Why I Hit Pause on My ChatGPT Plus Subscription

Dear friend,

In the dynamic world of artificial intelligence, my journey with OpenAI has been a thrilling adventure, starting from the Open AI gym in 2016 and progressing through the marvels of GPT 4plus. The excitement peaked with the innovative vision capabilities that left me in awe.

However, a recent OpenAI saga has left me pondering the trajectory of their advancements. It's like watching a once steady ship hit choppy waters. First, GPT-4 appears to be losing its edge, succumbing to a sense of lethargy. Then there's the pivot in policies to align with European regulations – a nod to adaptability but also a sign of turbulence. To add to the drama, news of a legal battle with The New York Times over copyright infringement has surfaced.

It's as if OpenAI has hit a temporary roadblock, and this unease has permeated into the performance of ChatGPT. The platform, which once promised boundless possibilities, now seems to be held back by a reluctance to fully deliver on its potential. It's disheartening to witness what appears to be a self-imposed limitation.

This realization led me to make a conscious decision – hitting pause on my ChatGPT Plus subscription until there's a discernible shift in OpenAI's strategy. As a user, I crave the full power of ChatGPT, adorned with features that not only meet but surpass expectations, leaving users in awe.

Reflecting on past experiences, I recall a time in December 2022 when I showcased the magic of AI to my parents, sisters, and family. One particularly memorable instance was the creation of a story titled "The War of the Empanada." Back then, OpenAI's innovations seemed boundless, sparking wonder and excitement.

Yet, the current state of affairs feels like OpenAI is in hiatus, a period of stagnation that does not align with the dynamic landscape of AI innovation. This is a call to action, a plea for OpenAI, led by individuals like Sam, to reignite the spark that captivated users in the first place.

While hitting pause, I'm left contemplating alternatives. The mention of Bard by Google arises, but reports indicate it may not be a suitable replacement. The desire is not to abandon ship but to encourage a revitalization that puts OpenAI back on the cutting edge.

So, here's to hoping that OpenAI heeds this call, embraces change, and repositions itself at the forefront of AI innovation. Until then, I eagerly await the day when ChatGPT once again mesmerizes users with its full potential.

The ball is in your court, OpenAI.

By the way, enjoy the holidays! Let's hope OpenAI snaps out of it, and ChatGPT roars back with a vengeance. Miss those days of mind-bending AI adventures.
